Roleplay example -
The castle was dark, only illuminated nearly-full moon, the snow falling softly in front of it casting shadows on the great stone wall. There was a shuffling of footsteps and suddenly a figure appeared by the window.
Evangeline pulled off her invisibility cloak and examined the Hogwarts grounds by use of her wand for light. She dawn long green Pyjama bottoms, with thick light green and dark green stripes, and a black t-shirt baring the Chudley Cannons logo.
She wiped the frost from the window and looked out. The grounds sparkling from the moonlight over a fresh snowfall. She turned around and started pulling her cloak back on. when she jumped nearly a foot in the air. Sitting in front of her, floating in mid-air was Peeves the Poltergeist.
"No, no, no, please....I'm just heading back..."
Peeves smiled a devilish grin and started swooping down the hall.
"Protego!"
A barrier appeared suddenly in front of Peeves, but he floated through it effortlessly.
Evangeline swore under her breath, cursing her foolishness.
She pulled her cloak back on as peeves started zooming down the hall towards the teacher corridors, and started sprinting the other way back to the Girls dormitory.
She made to the painting and stopped, panting and pulling off the cloak.
"Dragonsnaps!" She gasped, leaning against the wall.
The Fat Lady lifted her blindfold and glared angrily at her.
"And why should I let you in at this hour? I might as well let you sleep on the cold stone floor for your behavior!"
"Please? Just give me one more chance...it won't happen again! You wouldn't turn in a fellow Gryffindor, would you?"
The painting snorted.
"Well, you've already waken me..."
The painting swung open lazily, and Evangeline zoomed in, cloak in hand, shouted an "Oh, thank you!" as she did.
She made her way quietly back to bed and under the covers, feinging sleep. As she did, she smiled as she heard the fat lady arguing with Peeves and Professor McGonegall.
"I've had this job the past four centuries, and I think I can assure you that I kown when somebody enters and exits through me!"
